Education at Stowe Mission

You can bring hope and support to those who need it most in our community. Through prayer and donations of time and money, we combat the challenges our neighbors face daily.

Stowe Mission Backpack Giveaway

Each year we collect school supplies and backpacks from generous donors. Can you help our families in need prepare for school? See the school supply list here. You can also drop off donations at our location – 888 Parsons Ave. every Monday – Friday from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm.  The 2023 deadline for donations is August 11.

Our Scholarship Winners

Congratulations to the 2023 Stowe Mission Rivers Foundation Scholarship winners! Davion Johnson (Downtown High School) and Rose Wanjema (South High School) each received a $2,500 scholarship to pursue their continuing educational goals. Both winners excelled academically and in extracurricular activities. Davion plans to enroll in the Culinary Arts program at Columbus State Community College this fall.  Rose will pursue a physical therapy degree at Wittenberg University. Together, let’s pray for their bright futures!

Afterschool Volunteers Needed

There are many rewarding opportunities to serve our Stowe Mission children. You can make an impact with just a few volunteer hours per week!

Our after-school program requires the help of many volunteers. Here are a few opportunities where you can help.

Thanks to our faithful volunteers and staff who have helped grow this outreach program to what it is today!

Plans for Lifewise Academy

Due to student demand, Stowe Mission is excited to expand our LifeWise Academy program at South High School. Last year, the program was offered to 7th and 8th graders. This school year, we are extending the program to include 9th graders. We have witnessed God’s work in the lives of our students as they decide to follow Christ. Want to participate in this Bible-base character education? Become a volunteer.

Stowe Mission & Ohio 529 Savings Plans

Did you know Stowe Mission after-school students (grades K-6) can money for college? Ohio’s 529 savings plan helps students invest in their futures and save for educational expenses post-high school. Students can use these tax-free dollars for college, trade school, technical school, apprenticeships, room and board, books, computers, and more.

Stowe Mission wholeheartedly supports this program and contributes $2 daily when a child attends the after-school program. With your donations last year, we distributed $1,473 into 13 student accounts. Through tears, one student’s mom said she never thought continuing education was possible for her children.
