As the holiday season approaches, our hearts are brimming with excitement and warmth, and we are eager to share some wonderful opportunities for you to make this holiday season brighter for everyone in our community.

Toys of Hope

Toys of Hope has become a joyful annual event at Stowe Mission. Last year, through your generous donations, we were able to provide Christmas toys to over 700 children of 200 disadvantaged families in the 43206, 43207 (888 Parsons Ave.), & 43229 (Sharon Woods-The Hub) zip codes.

This year, we invite you to participate by donating age-appropriate, new, and unwrapped toys for toddlers through 12-year-olds. You can contribute in three ways: All toys should be new and unwrapped and should arrive at Stowe Mission no later than December 1, 2023

You can contribute in three ways:

  2. Drop off donations at Stowe Mission 888 Parsons Ave., Columbus, OH:

Thanksgiving Conversations

Let’s use this season to engage in meaningful conversations. Consider becoming an ambassador for Stowe Mission, sharing our work and encouraging others to get involved.

Here are a few conversation starters to help enrich these conversations:

  • Have you served in your community this year?
  • If you have not served, would you like to serve?
  • What volunteer efforts make the biggest impact?
  • In what way would you like to get involved?

Daily, as we engage with our neighbors, we delve into the complexities of their lives, touching upon the genuine and pressing challenges that often go unnoticed. These conversations reveal the stark realities individuals face within our community, shedding light on issues that extend far beyond the surface.

Housing issues loom large, casting shadows of uncertainty over families who strive for stability and a place to call home. The weight of compounding bills adds layers of stress, turning financial struggles into a daily battle. In the face of inflation, we witness the strain it places on the limited resources of those we serve, amplifying the need for collective support.

Yet, equally profound are the emotional burdens of isolation and loneliness. These intangible struggles are poignant reminders that the human experience encompasses not only material needs but also the innate desire for connection and companionship. The echoes of solitude reverberate in the stories shared, highlighting the importance of fostering a sense of community, understanding, and empathy.

It is in these daily conversations that we recognize the interconnectedness of our lives, the shared responsibility we have to uplift one another and the need for Jesus. The struggles faced by our neighbors are not isolated incidents, but threads woven into the fabric of our collective existence.

In acknowledging these challenges, we find a call to action—a call to be compassionate, to extend a helping hand, and to create a community where no one feels alone in their journey.

Please share your experiences with Stowe Mission and the programs we offer to our disadvantaged community. Then, invite your friends and family to get involved to serve with you.
