Raising Cane’s and Raising Spirits

Several weeks ago, a few of our K-6 After School Program (ASP) students approached us with a bright idea. The kids were asking for a Raising Cane’s chicken dinner, a treat they hold close to their hearts. As educators and mentors, we saw this as more than just a request for a tasty meal; it was an opportunity for our students to take ownership of their ASP experience and showcase their leadership potential.

Under the guidance of Natalie, our Director of Programs, these young ambassadors took their aspirations to the next level. The students formed a Board of Directors with President, Shawna, and Vice President, Javion, to spearhead their mission. Their goal was to organize a dinner to tantalize taste buds and foster camaraderie and achievement among their peers.

The first step in their journey was a call to action for the student body. The students drafted letters expressing heartfelt sentiments about the delights of Raising Cane’s and their desire to share this joy with their fellow students. They also requested financial support to purchase their dinner. These letters, filled with enthusiasm and determination, were a testament to the students’ dedication to their cause.

With weekly check-ins and brainstorming sessions, our students actively explore creative ways to raise funds for their dream dinner party. And while we are ironing out the details, one thing is sure: these students are on a mission with a goal.

To our incredible ASP students and the dedicated staff who support them every step of the way, we say: keep dreaming, keep striving, and never underestimate the power of teamwork and determination.

Stay tuned for more updates as our ASP ambassadors continue their inspiring journey!

Celebrating Collaboration

Stowe Mission North Set to Open

As April approaches, we are grateful and excited to announce our newest food pantry location at Stowe Mission North at 5959 Sharon Woods Blvd, Columbus. This milestone was only possible with the collaboration of various organizations and individuals who have come together to realize this vision.

Lutheran Social Services deserves special recognition for their invaluable support in providing the 211-appointment scheduling system for our new food pantry location. Their commitment to serving the community has been instrumental in ensuring that our systems are efficient.

Staff and Volunteers have been busy stocking the new food pantry to prepare for our first guests. Starting April 2nd, neighbors can set shopping appointments for Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM. This additional food pantry will provide individuals and families with access to essential resources during these challenging times.

Would you like to help? Stocking two food pantries is challenging, especially with the rising food costs. Your support as a donor or volunteer can make a significant difference in ensuring our shelves remain stocked and our community members receive the assistance they need. We invite you to join us in this cause.

Stowe Mission ASP K-6 Students Score Big at Columbus Blue Jackets Game

On February 25th, our Stowe Mission family experienced an unforgettable and exciting outing at a Columbus Blue Jackets game. With 15 eager students and seven dedicated staff members, we dove into the action-packed world of professional hockey, thanks to the generous sponsorship from Bread Financial.

Amidst the electrifying atmosphere of the arena, our group joined the crowd in cheering on the Blue Jackets as they faced off against the New York Rangers.

Thanks to Bread Financials’ thoughtful generosity, our students received a special treat—a bank with a $10 bill!

We extend our deepest gratitude to Bread Financial for their commitment to creating unforgettable experiences for our students and to the community. Go Jackets!
