Feed the Hungry
Stowe Mission’s Hunger programs were born out of need. Many people in our community didn’t have access to or money to purchase enough food to sustain themselves. From this basic need, Stowe Mission decided to help their neighbors with this problem.
Community Kitchen
Stowe Mission saw a great need and took action to feed the hungry and homeless people living in the Parsons Avenue neighborhood. In 1989, Stowe Mission opened the Community Kitchen and began serving free hot lunches. Over the years, this ministry grew, and today serves more than 250 meals each weekday.
Besides a nutritious lunch, the Community Kitchen provides a warm and safe gathering environment. Many of our neighbors have no family connections, and the dining room is a place to develop friendships and fulfill physical and social needs.
Need a free hot lunch?
Join us Monday – Friday every week from 11 – 12:30 pm. Enter on the south side of the building at the Community Kitchen door.
Food Pantry
Another way we help feed the hungry is with the Stowe Mission Food Pantry. In partnership with the Salvation Army, Stowe Mission provides groceries to neighbors who cannot afford to buy them. This self-service, choice food pantry allows neighbors to select the food they want and need. The Food Pantry offers meats, nonperishable goods and dairy products.
Neighbors who meet the low-income regulations are welcome to shop at the Stowe Mission Food Pantry monthly. To schedule an appointment, call 211.
During your visit, let us know if other resources are needed.
